Testing Center Hours for Thanksgiving Week

The GW COVID-19 testing centers will operate under modified hours during Thanksgiving week, November 22-28.

Please note that if you require a COVID-19 test prior to travel, you should schedule your test 48-72 hours in advance of your trip. All results for tests performed by noon on Wednesday, Nov. 24, will be available Wednesday evening.

If your next test due date falls over the Thanksgiving break period, you may make an appointment to test early to maintain your compliance. If you fall out of compliance during this period, we recommend that you schedule your test for the first day you return to campus.

Health and Safety Guidance for Gatherings and Holidays

The CDC offers guidance on how to gather and celebrate holidays safely. Tips include:

  • Gather outdoors, if possible.
  • Wear well-fitting masks over your nose and mouth if you are in public indoor settings in communities with substantial to high transmission, even if you are vaccinated.
  • Avoid crowded, poorly ventilated spaces.
  • If you are sick or have symptoms, don’t host or attend a gathering.
  • Get tested if you have symptoms of COVID-19 or have a close contact with someone who has COVID-19.

Travel Reminders

Please review GW’s health and safety guidance if you are traveling outside of the D.C.-region. If you have questions about whether you should travel, please see CDC’s guidance.

If you are fully vaccinated:

Following domestic travel, you are strongly encouraged to schedule a COVID-19 test at a GW testing center within 3-5 days after travel and self-monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 for 14 days after travel. Travel quarantine is not required.

Following international travel, please be mindful of required testing before travel to the U.S. You are required to test 3-5 days after travel and self-monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 for 14 days. Travel quarantine is not required.

If you have an exemption to GW’s vaccine requirement and are unvaccinated:

You must report any domestic or international travel outside of D.C., Maryland or Virginia in your daily symptom screener. Upon returning to the District, per D.C. Health guidance, you must follow the protocol for travel quarantine.

Please be aware of any required testing before travel to the U.S.
